The concept of the project started coming together whilst I was on vacation in Iceland.
I visited Iceland for the first time towards the end of 2025.
My partner is part Icelandic and had visited Iceland several times before, so she took charge over the planning of the trip. I paid my part of the tickets and I booked the car.
The realization of my lack of preparation for our destination dawned on me just after we drove away from the airport. Whilst driving along the main road from the airport in Keflafik I started to notice how empty it is around us.
The landscape felt completely unfamiliar to me; A semi-flat horizon consisting out of volcanic rocks and moss. No tree or even a bush as far as I could see.
It felt like I was in another world; everything was strange to me. But not to her.
She was back in her fatherland
